Islamabad/New Delhi:

Tensions between nuclear-armed neighbours India-Pakistan appear to be easing after both sides agreed to a ceasefire following several days of cross-border clashes.

The situation escalated earlier this month along the Line of Control (LoC), with reports of heavy artillery exchanges and multiple casualties. Both nations accused each other of violating previous ceasefire agreements.

However, in a joint statement released on Tuesday, military spokespersons from india-pakistan confirmed a mutual decision to hold fire and reduce hostilities. The ceasefire is being described as “fragile but hopeful” by analysts.

“We are committed to peace, but we will not tolerate provocation,” said a senior Pakistani military official, adding that Pakistan’s armed forces remain on high alert.

Meanwhile, India’s Ministry of External Affairs stated that “de-escalation is in the interest of regional stability.”

This development comes amid international pressure, particularly from the United Nations and Gulf nations, calling for restraint and dialogue.

🔍 Background

India-Pakistan have fought three full-scale wars and engaged in numerous skirmishes over the disputed region of Kashmir. The LoC has long remained a flashpoint for military tensions.

In recent days, social media in both countries was flooded with patriotic slogans, misinformation, and unverified videos—further fueling public anxiety.

🌍 Global Reaction

The UN Secretary-General welcomed the ceasefire agreement and urged both countries to “open diplomatic channels” for a more lasting peace.

📈 What Happens Next?

Experts warn that although the guns have fallen silent for now, true peace will require political will, not just military pause.
